Product Description

WPML Media Translation is an addon for WPML that enables translation of media library content across languages. Images, files, and other media assets in WordPress carry metadata such as titles, alt text, captions, and descriptions. This addon allows you to provide translated versions of that metadata for each language on your site.

Media Content Translation

On a multilingual site, simply translating page and post content is often not enough. Images displayed on translated pages may still show metadata in the original language. WPML Media Translation addresses this by letting you set language-specific titles, alt text, captions, and descriptions for each media item.

Key Capabilities

• Alt text translation: Provide language-specific alt text for accessibility and SEO across all site languages
• Caption and description: Translate captions and descriptions that appear alongside images in galleries and content
• Media duplication: Duplicate media attachments to translated content so each language version references the correct media metadata

SEO Considerations

Translated alt text and image metadata contribute to multilingual SEO by helping search engines understand image content in each language. This is particularly relevant for image-heavy sites like portfolios, e-commerce stores, and media publications.
